SPACE OF WARMTH

WATERCOLOR AND INK ILLUSTRATION, APRIL 2020

What makes a house a "home"?

"Home" is experienced through activities, not through visual elements.

As Juhani Pallasmaa puts it, genuine architectural experiences are not only from the visual design of the door, but from the act of entering; not from the window itself as a material object, but from looking in or out of a window, not from the fireplace as a visual design object, but from the occupation of a space of warmth.

Physical temperature turns into a space of intimate and personal warmth. The architectural space is the living space rather than the physical space, and the living space always exceeds the geometry.
